In the third quarter of 2022, Mercedes-Benz continued to lead the European electric vehicle market with a share of 9.2%. Electric vehicles accounted for 35% of its total sales of electric vehicles, up 75% year on year. Although Mercedes-Benz is in the leading position in the sales of electric vehicles in Europe, it has failed to gain a place in the top ten best-selling models. BMW dropped to the third place with 8.6% sales share. Its pure electric vehicle series accounts for 45% of its electric vehicle sales. The best-selling BEV model is i3, followed by i4 and iX. The X5 is its best-selling PHEV model, followed by the 3 series and X3.
Among other best-selling brands, Tesla's sales increased significantly compared with the previous quarter, and once again entered the top five brands. In September, Model Y was the best-selling electric vehicle model in Europe, accounting for 70% of Tesla's sales.
